"Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies."
- 1 Corinthians 6:19

influence behaviors around the leading

causes of injuries and death".

A few of these include topics such as :

 GET UP & GET MOVING

We encourage everyone to find a way to incorporate exercise into your daily life. Every other month we will post information on a form of exercise and where to find it locally. The Amercian Heart Association's guidelines for physical activity suggest at least 150 minutes per week of moderate exercise or 75 minutes per week of vigorous exercise (or a combination of moderate and vigorous activity). 30 minutes a day, five times a week is an easy goal to remember, however you will also experience benefits even if you divide your time into two or three segments of 10 -15 minutes per day.

This time we are discussing YOGA!

WHAT IS YOGA?

Yoga has been around for 5,000 years and millions of

people participate in classes all over the world. Most classes

focus on learning physical poses called "asanas". Besides poses,

classes include breathing techniques and sometimes

meditations.

IS ALL YOGA THE SAME?

No. There are many different forms. A few of them are:

Bikram : which is practiced in a room that is heated

to 105 degrees. This is also known as "hot" yoga

Hatha : focuses on slow and gently movements

Vingasar : movements flow from one to the next

Ashtanga : this form is physically demanding when

practiced

WHAT ARE THE HEALTH BENEFITS OF YOGA?

Besides being a form of exercise, it can also help

improve your flexibility, increase strength, help with posture

and relaxation. It also can help lower your blood

pressure which will decrease your risk for heart disease.

WHERE CAN YOU FIND CLASSES?

In our area these classes are offered at many different venues. The links below are a few places locally where you can attend classes:
