What to Expect
Ideally, our Offer groups meet in the home of one of the group members who have volunteered to host and can accommodate the size of the group. Some of our Offer Groups also meet in restaurants or other public locations. Anywhere with room!
What does a typical meeting look like?
In an Offer Group people generally take turns hosting the evening and facilitating the discussion. Most groups meet twice a month for an hour to an hour-and-a-half (decided by the group). Although all groups are designed uniquely, a typical Offer Group meeting might be:
- 6:30 p.m. Food (snacks or more)
- 7:00 p.m. Study & discussion
- 7:45 p.m. Prayer
- 8:00 p.m. End
What happens on the weeks in-between?
On off weeks, Offer Group participants may keep this time as a date night with spouse, a special event with children, time for a good book, or a walk in the park.
What is expected of me?
We encourage everyone to participate as much as they feel comfortable. You will not be put on the spot or expected to speak or pray aloud. Volunteers who feel comfortable doing so sign up to lead the discussion or host the evening.
What about my children?
We have several Offer Groups that provide childcare. Approved childcare workers from Providence UMC take care of the children in a separate room in the host home.
